5 Beauty Products Coconut Oil Replaces

We know how costly maintaining our beauty can be. Not only are beauty products expensive, but we never know if the product we buy will agree with our skin. Come on through coconut oil! Organic virgin coconut oil is one of the best things we can use on our bodies. It contains 50 percent lauric acid. Lauric acid is known to be anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-viral and it supports a healthy metabolism. Some of us use it for health benefits and to cook with, but here are the top 5 beauty products coconut oil replaces for good.

1. Coconut oil as an exfoliator

Coconut oil makes an excellent base for exfoliating your face and body. Exfoliating is necessary for removing dead skin cells, detoxing the skin and brightening your complexion. Mix it with granulated sugar and some lemon juice for a soothing scrub. And try not to eat it; it’s quite tasty.

2. Foot Treatment

This is one of my favorite uses of coconut oil. I’m an island girl who loves to be barefoot and my feet tell the tale. If you too have calluses and rough heels, exfoliate with a pumice stone, slather on some coconut oil, put socks on and call it a night. I mix it with shea butter on my feet. I need a lot of help. It even works to soften cuticles.

3. Makeup remover

I wear waterproof mascara and usually have a hard time removing it. But it is no match for coconut oil. It will remove all your makeup and moisturize your skin.

4. Coconut oil for your hair

Use the warmed oil as a deep conditioning treatment after shampooing. Cover with a shower cap, leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse. Use it on your split ends to add shine and control frizz. You’ll still need those end trimmed though.  You can even add coconut oil where your hair is sparse to promote cell growth.

5. Treating Acne

Apply bacteria-fighting coconut oil to a blemish, leave for 15 minutes and then rinse with warm water. You can apply it anywhere wrinkles appear on your face.  It improves blood circulation and helps in the regeneration of collagen in the skin.

Where to find it

You can find organic, virgin coconut oil at the grocery store, heath food store and even online. You can use it anywhere on your body for all-over moisture and vitality.
